With the amount of time we spend in the kitchen, it seems natural to pay attention to the latest kitchen design trends to keep the space feeling fresh. Sometimes, specific trends may speak to your senses, while others aren’t your preferred aesthetics—fortunately, there’s always something for everyone!
Increasing trends in 2025 kitchen remodels are room expansions, use of luxury products, full-height backsplashes, and dark countertops. Traditional styles are also soaring. Kitchens are the heart of the home, so expert focus in this area will pay off, especially with the great insight we can offer you for tile and slab products that will make your kitchen a true showroom.
Tile Trends
While Arizona Tile has plenty of resources to uncover and define new kitchen trends, Houzz is also a helpful source for new ideas. The 2025 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study shares many researched facts that can influence your kitchen remodel by using the luxury tile and stone products we supply. Searching for materials is probably the most exciting part of a new build or remodel, but knowing how to best pair products, understand desirable layouts, and be informed of modern design trends will help increase the personal and financial value of your home.
Room Expansions
This may be more practical for some than others. The amount of space and where you may gain it from will certainly vary. But a lot of people are choosing to expand their kitchen space with a full remodel. The #1 space to gain kitchen square footage without an addition is via the dining room. Dining rooms are not used nearly as frequently as in the past. People are instead finding a greater need for an office, playroom, or expanded kitchen. Additionally, open-concept floorplans have been the focus for quite some years now, which eliminates the large area that would traditionally be sectioned off as the dining room.
About 35% of people working on a kitchen remodel increase its footprint. Of those expanding their kitchens, 29% gain that space from their dining room. Whether you’re able to expand or not, there are ways to make the space look and feel larger through design. Adding a kitchen island, if floor space allows, can increase counter space and storage. Not only is there a large value in function, but some people enjoy creating a color contrast with their island design, which can add dimension and the appearance of more space. For example, white perimeter countertops contrast well with a black island countertop, or light upper perimeter cabinets with a notably different color for lower cabinets, including the island.
Large-format tile is also great for this. Not only is it incredibly durable and versatile, but its lengths add an appearance of expansiveness. This tile can be used on floors and walls, inside and outside. If you’re someone who delights over uniformity throughout your home and even out to a patio, large-format tile is something you may love. For some large-format tile information and ideas, read here.

To add a unique look, the Intense series was inspired by sedimentary limestone and faithfully reproduces the granules and micro-inclusions of fossils typical of this stone. One offering (featured on the 24×48 Trait and some mosaics) even recreates a chiseled-stone effect for a decorative flair, which can still be used as flooring.

Countertops
Quartz countertops are a manufactured surface and have held their place at the top for over ten years, with good reason! Our Della Terra® Quartz is made with up to 94% quartz, the hardest mineral in nature, then mixed with advanced polymers. The finished product is non-porous, stain- and scratch-resistant, incredibly durable, and long-lasting. Quartz countertops come in a variety of colors and patterns, so finding the right design to fulfill your aesthetic preferences is easy. For many years, white and off-white countertops have been the most popular, but they are followed by black, which creates a stunning contrast to white cabinets (also the most popular).
Carrara Breeze is a stunning white quartz countertop with faint gray detail throughout. Its soft beauty makes this a great option if you want to stick with luxurious subtlety.
Calacatta Capella is another classic white quartz. It has pronounced marble-like veining, providing dramatic detail and character.
Grigio Elegante isn’t quite black, but it’s close. This deep gray quartz with fine white veining adds visual interest to a space.
Montenegro is a stunning black quartz countertop. It resembles black marble without the maintenance needs of marble.

Granite has been a popular natural stone for many eras with proven durability and longevity. Being a natural stone product, granite is about as durable as it gets. With various colors and patterns, granite offers a superior aesthetic that is resistant to heat, scratches, and stains when properly sealed and maintained. With over 70 variations of granite slabs and tile, this unique and cherished natural stone lives up to its name.
Black Pearl granite is a game-changer if you want a black countertop. This natural stone complements many design preferences and maintains little to no variation, making it great for large projects.
Blizzard is another perfect option if you’re unsure about choosing black or white. While showing more black than white, its striking black with swirls of white is awe-inspiring.
Colonial White is a great option if you don’t want a stark white but want to stick with a white background without too much detailing. Overall, this is a great off-white that will remain timeless, no matter the current trends.

Tile Flooring
Flooring, especially in a high-traffic area like a kitchen, has to be super durable. Porcelain and ceramic tile have maintained their popularity for quite some time and will continue to remain relevant in kitchen design trends. For appearance, nearly half of homeowners desire wood tones, followed by brown and gray. While natural hardwood is not something we offer, what we have is far better because it is virtually maintenance-free: wood-grain porcelain. This porcelain gives you the best of both worlds: the durability and ease of porcelain with the appearance of wood!
More Wood is a stunning series of porcelain tile that mimics natural wood. Giving warmth to any space, this “wood” floor will provide you with years and years of low-maintenance joy.
Aequa is also a wood-look porcelain tile but displays a more rustic, reclaimed wood feel. In all five color choices, it is hard to visually detect that it is not wood.

Full-Height Backsplash
A backsplash is an essential design element that not only enhances the look of your kitchen, but also protects the wall above the countertop and provides an easy-to-clean surface. Ceramic and porcelain tile are the top two preferred material choices for a backsplash—they’re very durable, simple to maintain, and long-lasting. A common trend is to expand beyond the area between the base of the upper cabinets and the countertop upward to the ceiling, adding an elongated, streamlined appearance.
You’ve probably heard of subway tile, which has been trending since the early 20th century. Well, these rectangular tiles, and others of varying dimensions, stand strong as the #1 backsplash shape, with horizontal brick remaining the preferred pattern, too. For traditional subway tile inspiration, visit here, and for offset subway tile patterns, find inspiration here.
Our Flash series is a ceramic wall tile that comes in rectangular or square sizes, in eight stunning colors, and displays a gentle texture and soft glaze. It’s perfect for a backsplash and will last a lifetime with the proper care and maintenance.
Our Paloma series has many sizes and colors to suit any need. With either a glossy or matte finish, this ceramic tile may be just what you need—it even pairs well with natural stone.
