Aesthetics in a restaurant is a big deal, and so is cleanliness. In a bathroom, these factors definitely carry through as you need bathrooms to be fresh and clean while conveying an inviting design.
The bathroom design of a restaurant shouldn’t lack stylistic flair. The motif can present uniqueness or fall in line with the design throughout the restaurant to create a seamless counterpart. Whether soft and subtle or bold and vibrant colors and patterns are used, a restaurant bathroom design must be a clean and crisp atmosphere that is easy to maintain.
Design an Attractive Bathroom Space
Design can be difficult in a commercial space because you need to appeal to a large audience. If your restaurant is a steak house, you could easily opt for woodgrains and complementary natural stone to provide a more rustic appeal. If your restaurant is high-end, adding sleek, sophisticated marble will provide the perfect touch. Want something modern and unique? Patterned tile and accent walls present a stylistic flair.

While these ideas can radiate throughout the restaurant, in the bathroom they can properly accentuate the space. When you’re dining, your focus is likely on the people you are with, but when you visit the restroom, your focus is now solely on the space around you: the countertop, the floors, and the walls. While washing your hands, for example, you can really hone in on the majestic colors and movement within a stone slab surface and delight in its beauty, even if only for a moment or two. Let’s look at a few specific restaurant bathroom design ideas:
- Marble presents a sophisticated, formal aesthetic. Placing marble in the bathroom maintains a flow of grandeur, but it also enhances the environment. Fantasy Ocean features a horizontal linear movement that is blue, grey, and white, with random, thick black veining with a dramatic look. It’s easy to get lost in the visual appeal that Fantasy Ocean presents.

- Quartzite relays captivating beauty as it’s unearthed with colorful, deep detail. From subtle and understated elegance to bold and striking statements, quartzite can pair with classic luxury or modern design. Blue Tahoe Satin will bring any design to the next level. With its cool blue-toned, silver background, grey veining, and various areas of white this stone looks like marble but is much harder and more durable.
- Granite has a timeless appeal that never expires. From its long-cherished place in architectural history to providing elegant countertops, granite has left its mark. Plus, its versatility for restaurant bathroom design won’t disappoint when it comes to attractiveness. Kalahari will bring that burst of originality and colors into your fun, modern design. Its shades include light green, grey, blue, cream, and white, with possible chunks of tourmaline and quartz. If the versatility of granite drew you to it, maybe a more subdued slab fits best with your restaurant bathroom design. Black Mist Honed granite is ready to please with its black background and slim white quartz veining.
- Quartz is a man-made material comprised of up to 94% quartz. Cortona Gold has a creamy white background with thin grey and brown veining and areas of mottled grey, giving it an earthy and organic look that provides a similar statement to natural stone, but is non-porous! .
Porcelain Slabs are new to our inventory but will be well-known in no time. In terms of attractiveness, these slabs have it all. Available in more than 30 colors and various patterns, they can make a formal or casual restaurant bathroom pop or remain subdued so a stellar focal wall can steal the show. Or, DT-Marvel Calacatta Prestigio Polished could even be your focal wall – it’s just waiting for the chance! If you feel compelled to stick with porcelain tile, Glam will make your design perfectly glamorous.

While the above options are geared for countertops and walls, flooring is a big deal, too. You want flooring to be memorable because it looks great, not because it’s old, dirty, and full of stains. Ultra-durable porcelain is perfect for this task.
- Themar has the appearance of a natural stone, including marble. Offered in five colors, your elegant bathroom’s design will gleam.
- The Reside USA series is a great neutral option. Inspired by the rich textures of commercial textiles, this series offers a simplistic, modern appeal.
More Wood is another neutral option but with a specific design pattern: wood grain. Wood grain provides a natural warmth to a space, so it relies upon that desired effect within a design.
Durability & Maintenance
Both durability and maintenance requirements play a large role in a business’s restaurant bathroom design. You definitely want a durable product so it can withstand high traffic for many years, as well as something easy to clean so it always looks its best.

All the above-mentioned products can handle the task, but there are some things to know. Natural stone is porous, meaning it is absorbent. To maintain its beauty and integrity, routine sealing needs to be on your radar. This can be a DIY project or completed by a professional, just be sure it isn’t forgotten. It couldn’t get much worse than putting so much time into designing the perfect restaurant bathroom, all for the material to not perform as expected. With that said, each natural stone and manufactured surface, has differences.
Marble
Marble is a softer stone, so it can be prone to scratching over time. This is where proper sealing will help a lot. Also, if anything is to sit on the marble surface, like a decorative vase, use a pad for protection so it doesn’t rub on the marble. For cleaning, never use any acidic or harsh chemical cleaners. Use a damp cloth with an approved marble cleaner.
Granite & Quartzite
Granite and Quartzite are as durable as natural stone can be for your restaurant bathroom design. Quartzite is a bit harder, but both are incredibly durable and resistant to scratches, stains, and etching. Resistant to scratches, stains, and etching does not mean it’s impervious, so be sure to seal these products, too! Maintenance needs for granite and quartzite are the same as for marble.
Quartz & Porcelain
Quartz and porcelain are both fabricated surfaces, making them non-porous. Given this, they do not need to be sealed, and both repel moisture, so they do not inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. In a restaurant bathroom, the characteristics that minimize maintenance needs are exactly what you need. While these products are easy to maintain, don’t neglect them. Without care, they will lose their luster and become more susceptible to damage. Simply wipe with a cloth and warm water to renew their shine, and use an approved cleaner when needed.
