When buying or designing a home, a pantry is something most people would view as a nice additional feature to the kitchen design. While a pantry can range from a small “closet” with shelves to a grandiose space, having this area makes organizing your kitchen much more manageable.
Just because a pantry is sometimes an afterthought, doesn’t mean it can’t be an extension of the kitchen design. Kitchen pantry tile can be a style all its own or a continuation of the floor and wall tile used throughout the kitchen. Read on for pantry tile design ideas to make this space designated for organization a delightful area in your home.
Porcelain and Quartz
Porcelain and quartz are both highly versatile and durable materials that can be used in any room of the home, including the kitchen and pantry. Regardless of your preferred aesthetic, there are options to coordinate styles with either material. Depending on your pantry setup and features, incorporating accent tile—like the Cementine Posa Series with its five unique and charming vintage designs—will make the areas of your pantry walls pop where there are open shelves or glass cabinet doors. A quartz slab on a countertop surface paired with a porcelain backsplash provides an inviting and timeless aesthetic. As pantries can become cluttered and messy, it’s good to know quartz will be simple to clean. Simply use a pH-balanced neutral cleaner and warm water on this long-lasting, durable, and resilient surface.

A Cohesive Style
If you like a cohesive appearance throughout a space, quartz slabs and porcelain tile can make moving from the kitchen into the pantry, seamless.. For a unified design, having the same flooring run through much of an area will eliminate the need for transitions from room to room. While transitions are perfectly fine, a lack of transitional pieces will enhance a complete flow across the space. The same thing goes for any backsplash or countertop. There can be the same staple materials from the kitchen to the pantry, to the bathroom, to the fireplace.
Flooring
The Sav Wood series porcelain tile has the same characteristics as natural wood. Wood provides a timeless appearance that has been, and likely will always be, a common stylistic option. Wood flooring is quite common throughout all areas of a home. Opting for Sav Wood porcelain would enhance appearances and minimize maintenance, whether in large areas, like the kitchen, or smaller areas like the pantry. And, when you have neutral, versatile flooring, it makes further design and décor easier to pair and adjust over the years.

Backsplash
Cohesion is created through flooring, wall tile, and your countertop. Just because a pantry is often a closed-off space, there is no need to diminish its design quality. The Concerto series emphasizes neutrality and versatility to continue a gentle flow from room to room. Through a breadth of color offerings, the Concerto series pairs well with natural stone and other tile and stone options. Available in a glossy or matte finish, combining different finishes and colors can give you variation and custom design. Porcelain tile, like this and the Flash series, for instance, are quite versatile to complete any pantry design.

Designing with Variation
Alternatively, designs can be filled with variation. But that is not to say that with variation you cannot also achieve cohesion. Even if totally different in appearance, many materials can mesh well as their different colors and textures may pair nicely together. The Reverie series speaks this in volumes.
Creating variation may be just your style – picture fun and creative accent areas as a way to break up similar material. Offering patterns that are reminiscent of years past, Reverie brings back vintage design. Available in 12 different patterns and 4 solid colors, this porcelain tile can jazz up the wall behind an exposed shelf in the pantry or create a focal point on the pantry floor. It’s also a great way to create movement throughout the room.

Variation doesn’t have to include printed tile but may simply be a variation in color from other spaces. Kitchen pantry tile designs are unique to your preference and can be designed to fit whatever feel the room needs. If the area is bright with lots of morning sunshine, then the countertop in your pantry may be better as a dark surface contrast, like Metropolis Dark. This quartz is a solid neutral piece that’s very different from a Citrine quartz kitchen countertop, for example.
Metropolis Dark is a dark grey quartz with small, charcoal grey and white flecks, making it reminiscent of concrete. On the other hand, Citrine is a creamy white quartz with grey and brownish-gold veining similar to marble. The variations in these two quartz slabs change up the feel of the space, such as a pantry, but pair well together in a more general home design. Whatever your color preference, there are ways to create a seamless style full of variation.
