Once You See a Pet Shower – You’ll Wonder How You Have Ever Lived Without One!

If bathing your dog in your bathtub or outside has become too much of a chore, installing a pet shower may be a great home improvement project to tackle. Garages and mudrooms are popular locations for pet showers, as they provide a convenient and easy way to clean pets before they can track dirt inside. Pet Shower Basics

Pet showers are usually about half the height of regular showers and will vary in size depending on how much space your dog requires. Shelving is commonly added to store supplies like pet shampoo, towels and toys. Think about fitting your shower with handheld showerheads that are mounted low, but high enough so your dog won’t bump his head on it. You may also want to consider designing one with raised floors so you can avoid having to bend over too far.

Tiles for Pet Shower Designs

When designing a pet shower, look for tiles that are durable and easy to clean. Here are three tiles that are great for use in the design of a pet shower.

Slate

Slate is highly durable, making it a smart tile choice for a pet shower. You can design the entire shower with slate tile, or combine a slate surround with a geometric tile, such as our Calcatta Gold Hexagon marble tile. The latter design option will add visual interest but you won’t go wrong however you choose to incorporate slate.

Subway Tile

Subway tile is perfect for a pet shower. They look very stylish when used for everything, including walls, floor and surround. And they also provide beauty when paired with another material. For example, a white subway tile surround with dark grout works really well with a slate tiled shower floor.

Marble

For a chic and elegant looking pet shower, use marble for all aspects of the shower. If you don’t want to go all out with marble, you can incorporate it by simply using it as an accent to a subway or other tile. A pet shower is a project that’s worth the investment, saving you time, stress and, perhaps, money that would have otherwise been spent on carpet cleaning.
